Jesus said to him: "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39

Introduction: One day Jesus went up on a mountain and taught the people. The message He gave them was called "The Sermon on the Mount." At the end of the sermon, Jesus said the person who listened to His words and obeyed them is like a house built on a rock. One of the things Jesus told the people was that certain spiritual attitudes bring spiritual blessings. He made eight statements about these attitudes and blessings. The eight statements are called "The Beatitudes." If we develop the spiritual attitudes that are found in the beatitudes, we will be like a house built on a rock. This week we will study what it means to have our house built on the rock. Then we will study each of the Beatitudes carefully. We will examine our hearts to see if we have the eight spiritual attitudes. We will learn what the blessings mean in our lives.
